"Aircraft Valuation: Airplane Investments As An Asset Class"

I am pleased to announce the book is out and published by Palgrave Macmillan.

The book describes the current COVID-19 situation thus far in respect to the aviation market. It includes my long term study looking at underlying aspects of aircraft as an investable asset class especially geared for institutional investors within the real asset space.

The book also looks at the drivers of the global markets and Chinese/Asian market. It includes a detailed 20+ year study of aircraft residual values and comparisons to other real asset classes and benchmarks.

I am honored to work with Palgrave on this book. A lot of effort has gone into this project to get it to this stage and thank you to all who contributed including my industry peers and colleagues.

This is a #1 New Release in Amazon already.
Testimonials by industry practioner leaders and academics below.

“Professor Yu couldn’t have come to market at a more appropriate point in time with his latest publication when aircraft asset management, financing and refinancing have become the preeminent restructuring focus – and opportunity – of the aviation industry’s battle for survival and business continuity in the (post-) Covid-19 era. Professor Yu’s approach to empirical analysis is the bridging link that transforms research-backed theory into applicable guidelines for immediate deployment in today’s demanding economic situation. While deep-diving into the Chinese and wider Asian market, this book and its included studies are a new guideline for the airline and aircraft financing industry globally.”
-Peter Baumgartner, FRAeS, ex-CEO of Etihad Airways

“David’s thoughtful, detailed and analytical approach to a complex discipline is not only timely, given the tumultuous changes facing the aviation industry, but also will bring lasting value by inspiring students and experts alike to dig more deeply into the drivers of aircraft value. As the Asia region grows increasingly central to commercial aircraft operation and investment, a professional perspective from the heart of the region is long overdue.”
-Dick Forsberg, Aviation Consultant and retired Head of Strategy at Avolon

“This book fills a niche in the market. It not only delivers detailed information on contemporary aircraft leasing methodologies and markets but also provides a comprehensive review of the impacts on the aviation industry from the COVID-19. This is the best book for both academia and practitioners in the aircraft leasing field.”
-Chris C. Hsu, Ph.D., Professor of Finance, Director of CUNY Aviation Institute, York College, The City University of New York
